Commissions

I take a small number of commissions each year.

Most commission processes put everyone under pressure. The client specifies every detail in advance. The artist tries to execute a painting that lives in someone else’s head. The finished work often satisfies no one.

I work a different way.

You find a painting of mine that moves you. One that already exists, or a series, or a direction. You tell me the size your wall wants.

I paint a new piece in that spirit. The same feeling. The same kind of light, moving the same way. Your dimensions.

When it is finished, you see it first. There is no deposit. You commit nothing until you stand in front of the painting. If it belongs on your wall, it is yours. If it does not move you, you walk away and owe nothing. The piece simply joins my available work and finds its home elsewhere.

Pricing is by size, one US dollar per square inch. Shipping is included, anywhere in the world. Most pieces take four to eight weeks, depending on scale and what else is on the easel.

This way you never pay for a painting you do not love, and I never sign my name to one I do not believe in.
